Elana Fishbein & Shaun Farrugia
Elana and Shaun are hilarious, talented improvisers who bring a ton of experience to their Megawatt shows. Elana has been on a team for five years now, and Shaun just got cast. Jolene Turner interviewed both of them about favorite moments, comedy role models, and some veteran advice. Enjoy….
Lauren Olson & George Fernandez
The Megawatt Performer Profile Series is a quick way to get to know some of the excellent improvisers that make up Megawatt, Magnet’s house team system.
Lauren Olson has been on a Megawatt team since 2007, and George Fernandez is brand new. Both are funny, great to watch, and wonderfully nice people who are always ready to play onstage and off.
Each sat down with fellow Magnet performer Jolene Turner to answer a few questions about what they get out of Megawatt, what they put into it, and what makes them laugh. more
MEGAWATT – Wednesdays 8:00PM, 9:00PM, & 10:00PM
MUSICAL MEGAWATT – Tuesdays 8:30PM
What is Megawatt?
Megawatt is a weekly showcase of the Magnet’s signature house teams! Six of the teams perform every Wednesday and two musical teams perform every Tuesday. All Megawatt performers have graduated from the Magnet Training Center and are lead by a Magnet assigned director. Megawatt teams perform a variety of forms, styles, and structures – all of which are fueled by hilarious improvisers playing at the top of their intelligence.
How can I participate?
To be considered for a Megawatt team, you must complete all six levels of the Magnet Training Program. Likewise, for Musical Megawatt, you must complete all three musical improv core classes. After completion, you become eligible for an invitation to audition. Auditions are held periodically throughout the year. As you complete Level Six, you will find out more information about the audition process and the next audition scheduled.
The Magnet is excited to announce our newest Megawatt teams, all of which to debut this Wednesday at 7, 8:30 and 10PM. Featherweight & Phooka hit the stage two years ago this week on the Wednesday night Megawatt stage. Both teams have delighted audiences and provided us all with a consistently high level of patient and hilarious long form improv comedy every week. Both of these teams have also taken their acts on the road and performed in multiple cities.
To celebrate their accomplishments we would like you to join us on Saturday August 14th at 10PM where each team will dazzle you with 25-30 minute sets. 254 West 29th Street, NYC.
