Dearly Beloved performs The Wake, an improvisational form developed by Alex Marino and originally performed by the Necropolitans many years ago. From the invocation of a name pulled from the obituary pages, Dearly Beloved gives the recently deceased their final chance to have their story told on stage through a series of improvised scenes. With scenes that vary from the side splitting hilarious to the gut-wrenchingly tragic, Dearly Beloved invites you to celebrate the life and death of a complete stranger.
They have two shows in September. One of which is tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 7:00pm.
Yep. You are a Lawyer and you want to know how to improvise better. THIS is for you.
The ability to improvise – no matter what you are confronted with – is the hallmark of a truly effective lawyer. Many parallels exist between good lawyering, trial advocacy and improv comedy. Improvisers have developed tools that can help them draw an audience into a constructed stage reality. Trial lawyers have a similar goal: drawing a jury into a reconstructed version of events. Joey Novick is an attorney and nationally renowned instructor of humor and improv workshops. During this interactive workshop, he will lead you in a series of exercises that will show you how applying improv techniques in various contexts can help you become a more effective attorney, mediator or arbitrator. You’ll also find out how using improv techniques can help you add strength, animation and powerful persuasive techniques in the courtroom, at the settlement table, or when negotiating a wide variety of issues.
This is a New York State Continuing Legal Education accredited course where participants earn three (3) CLE credits.
When faced with a crisis, are you able to…
* think on your feet?
* improvise on the spot?
* maintain your poise and ability to sound authoritative?

FACE is tonight at 7pm! Treat yourself, this show is awesome.
“…Comedic, dramatic, and jazz improv so surreally compelling that by the end, you leave wishing you could see what they come up with next.”
—Daniel Kelly, www.nytheatre.com
“What differentiates this show from any other I’ve seen is the stunning collaboration between the actors and a live jazz trio onstage. The strength of FACE is their extraordinary ability to tune into each other, thereby keeping the audience enthralled by both the unique concept of the show and its execution.”
—Katherine Heller, www.newyorkcool.com
“…the cast is clearly having fun, and the pace never lags for long…FACE is a breezy, amusing diversion.”
—Vanessa Anderson, Time Out New York
“FACE is improv at its most beautiful.”
—Katherine Heller, www.newyorkcool.com
“FACE Improv’s performance at the Galapagos Art Space screamed of talent overload, with music, laughter and spontaneity pouring out the door of the tiny space…as the musicians embellished each minute of the show with their equally theatrical and relevant jazz.”
—Jennifer Pelly, The Fordham Observer
Adam Wade will be a guest monologist tonight for Junior Varsitys 10pm show. Thursday Night Out starts in less than two hours, get over to the Magnet and check it out.

With the help of a very game cast and a great sense of playfulness, Pope! wins the hearts of the audience through its commitment to the comedy and the clear enthusiasm of the participants” – NYTheatre.com

Lauren Olson’s (Dunk) show, Our Condolences, which ran at the Magnet Theater for an extended period of time will be playing at the New York International Fringe Festival this weekend. Directed by Rachel Hamilton. Don’t miss out this is a great show!
Lauren Olson’s mom died when she was 23. Everyone said such wonderfully inappropriate things that she had to write a show about it. Our Condolences introduces you to ten different characters who all mean well but can’t quite get it together. Oblivious, nervous, cheerfully in denial, horribly tactless, unintentionally selfish, over-the-top; they left voicemails, wrote letters, cried inappropriately, gave unsolicited advice, and stopped her in the middle of work outs at the gym to have “deep conversations” about how sad she must be. A solo show about death for those of us who would rather spend our time laughing than crying.

Both teams have delighted audiences and provided us all with a consistently high level of patient and hilarious long form improv comedy every week. Both of these teams have also taken their acts on the road and performed in multiple cities.
To celebrate their accomplishments we would like you to join us on Saturday August 14th at 10PM where each team will dazzle you with 25-30 minute sets. 254 West 29th Street, NYC.
