Emily Shapiro

Performer

Bio

Emily received her BFA in Acting from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. She has been studying and performing at the Magnet Theater since 2006 but has been doing improv since middle school! Emily has previously performed on Magnet Megawatt House Teams "Phooka" and "Oswald" but is currently performing with the dynamic powerhouse that goes by the name "The Wrath." You can also see Emily with her indie team, "Pumpkin," and often with Magnet's all lady shows, "The Clubhouse" and "We Just Might Kiss" and Magnet's rainbow friendly show, "There's No Place Like Home."

Emily is also a sketch writer and performer and was part of the Magnet sketch team "Breakfast for Dinner." She is co-writer and star of the sketch comedy duo, "The Weird Sisters," but is most proud to have recently made a comedy dream come true, writing and starring in her one woman show, "Emily is a Character," telling character stories of unrequited love.

Besides performing, Emily works as a Health Coach and a Yoga Instructor and is the co-leader of the Happy Soul: a Yoga and Improv Comedy retreat that happens in Costa Rica. Visit www.loveandkale.com or www.happysoulretreat.com for more info on these wonderful things.
