MY YEAR OF PORN is a one-woman comedy about a journalist’s
eye-opening adventures, the year she produces a documentary on the
porn industry. Through storytelling and character monologues, she
travels to porn sets, backseats of trucks and a bizarre swingers
club in downtown LA. It’s Heart of Darkness. Only
instead of the Congo, it’s Porno.
You’ll meet the enthusiastic porn starlet
Sinammon Summers, who takes her job very seriously; the busiest
director in porn, Gordon “Monty” Monty; the swarthy
porn veteran, Rock Hard; and the somewhat intimidating porn superstar,
Angel St. Jaymes. Cole even manages to track down the famously reclusive
and disturbingly shell-shocked porn director, John Merriweather.
Cole’s plucky curiosity morphs into deep
concern when she realizes maybe she’s in too deep. Monty thinks
she’d be perfect to star in his next movie, Merriweather thinks
she’d be perfect to write his next movie, and Angel St. Jaymes
keeps looking at Cole in a leering way that’s starting to
make her feel uncomfortable.
What is a year of porn going do to her?
"Compelling...Ms. Kazdin brings a wry tone
to her anecdotes, many of which are too graphic to repeat here.
She also portrays a variety of eccentric but thoroughly believable
characters."
