Bio
Russ began improvising at iO and Second City in Chicago before moving to Magnet and UCB in New York.
He is an Emmy-Nominated writer who has written and produced for Comedy Central's "Night of Too Many Stars," "Billy on the Street," and Details Magazine. As an actor, Russ has appeared on NBC's "30 Rock," MTV's "Failosophy," the indie feature "Northeast," NPR's Studio360 and lots of commercials. He has written for and appeared in several pilots for Comedy Central.
Russ has performed in comedy festivals in New York, Chicago, Charleston, Edmonton, North Carolina, Baltimore, Atlanta, Toronto and tons of colleges and small towns in between. He co-created "Statues of Liberty" (Time Out New York Critic's Pick) and performed with "4Track" and "Gimme the Loot" (Magnet), "Chica Go-Go" (The PIT) and "Key Party" (UCB). Currently Russ plays with "The Friday Night Sh*w" (New York Magazine Critic's Pick), "The Weave," Megawatt, and Magnet TourCo. Russ has had the pleasure of directing ensembles like "Brick," "Nintendo," "Chet Watkins," "Elsie Jay" and "SMIRK" as well as Magnet Sketch Team Dispacho.
