TEST DRIVE SUBMISSION INFO:
WHAT IS TEST DRIVE?
Test Drive is the process by which performers can present their productions for consideration to the Artistic Director of the Magnet Theater.
WHEN IS TEST DRIVE?
Traditionally Test Drive is schedule on Sundays at 6:30 pm or 8:00 pm.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Anyone can apply for a Test Drive slot.
WHAT KIND OF SHOWS WILL YOU CONSIDER?
We will consider any form of live performance comedy, although we do give priority to written works, sketch shows and character pieces. If you are submitting an imporv show we expect a unique pitch or hook.
I HAVE AN IDEA FOR A SHOW THAT I WOULD LIKE TO WORKSHOP, SHOULD I SUBMIT?
No. We are looking for a final product.
HOW MUCH TIME WILL I HAVE FOR MY TEST DRIVE?
A Test Drive slot is 25 minutes long. If you absolutely, positively, 100% cannot do your show in that time it is possible to apply for a 50 minute slot.
HOW DO I APPLY?
To apply for a Test Drive, download an application (see link at the bottom of this page) and return a completed HARD COPY to either the Magnet Theater (254 W 29th St.) or The Magnet Training Center (259 W 30th St - 2nd floor). Emailed applications will not be considered.
WHEN ARE APPLICATIONS DUE?
Applications are due on the 15th, a month and a half prior to the performance month. For example, an application submitted between January 15th and February 15th would be considered for an April slot. Notification of acceptance would go out by the 25th, ten days after the due date (e.g. February 25th).
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY TEST DRIVE?
After your Test Drive you will be provided with written feedback about your show. Shows that are of high quality and bring an substantial audience may be given a second Test Drive. After the completion of two sucessful Test Drives, shows may be considered for incusion in the regular Magnet schedule.
